Cantina Paltrinieri
2021
Piria 2021
Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Salamino
Emilia Romagna, Italy

The Paltrinieri winery was founded by Achille Paltrinieri in 1926 in northern Italy; the well-reputed region of Emilia-Romagna stretching from the Apennine Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. Grandson Alberto Paltrinieri and his wife Barbara took over in 1998 and today manage 18 hectares of vineyards, producing a range of sparkling Lambrusco wines. Cantina Paltrinieri delivers modern lambrusco made with traditional methods and a strong sense of place. Light, elegant and bone dry; a far cry from the Lambrusco of the 70s when it got a reputation as sweet, fizzy, and usually a disconcerting pinky-purple.

Piria 2021 is 70% Lambrusco di Sorbara and 30% Lambrusco Salamino. Apple peel, red fruit and strawberry on the nose, followed by a dry but fruity palate. Drink as an aperitif or with tortellini in a delicate broth.
