Ladidadi Wines first emerged in London and became more fully established in Berlin, when the natural wine scene was still finding its feet. Florian dedicated himself to importing exciting low intervention wines, sharing them across the city and opening his own small shop on the edge of Kreuzberg; a haven for natural wine lovers and home to many a pop-up. Three years later, Florian transported the project to Lisbon, creating a natural wine bar that quickly drew a loyal following and co-founding Pura Sede, Lisbon’s first natural wine fair, in 2019. In 2021 he moved to Penalva do Castelo, where his winemaking life began. Florian worked alongside Hugo for two years, learning as much as he could about Portugal’s numerous indigenous grapes and trying different techniques. Typically, a lot of Portuguese wines are blends, but Florian was keen to make single variety wines to better understand the taste of each type of grape. In January 2023, with the help of João, Florian began renting the house, vineyard and cellar where he now lives. He worked in the vineyard the whole year, watching the grapes develop, and harvesting around his birthday at the end of August. This is his very first vintage and we’re excited to see what the future holds for Ladidadi in its new format as importer, distributor, and producer.

Mimosa is made with 100% Jaen, known outside Portugal as Mencía. The grapes were de-stemmed and placed in a traditional Portuguese lagar; a large granite tank with capacity for around 3000 kilos of grapes. Here the grapes were trodden underfoot for an hour, every day for three days. After the juice was extracted, the must was pressed with a hydraulic press to gather every last drop, which was added to the stainless steel tanks. A fun, juicy wine with low tannins and a hint of blackberry and good acidity. Drink lightly chilled.
