Le rois nu
Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre
Roussillon, France

Rasmus Aamand created the winery to live out his ideas on sustainability and responsibility; to make his impact as positive as possible. Born in Denmark, he moved to Banyuls-sur-Mer in search of rewarding terroir and started the winery in 2017. Farming was the first occupation that Rasmus ever imagined having, even as a child ‘when most of my farming tools were still made out of plastic and had a more manageable size’! Today, Rasmus satisfies his natural curiosity and love of knowledge with research in neuro-biology and the creation of high quality wine - both requiring immense attention to detail. Rasmus has farmed organically and biodynamically since day one. For him, there is no fun in farming or winemaking without total commitment to healthy soil and this is part of his plan for the future: to cherish the soil and to make room for the diversity of experience which the natural world has to offer. 2022 will see the addition of another hectare to the 6ha which he already tends to, in the lower reaches of the Pyrenees. It is here that Rasmus feels at home - with the mountains, the grapes and the sweat of hard labour.

‘Le roi nu’ is a fresh and fruity wine made with Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre. It deviates slightly from the rest of the Nénu wines, leaning into a wildness that distinguishes it from his other reds. A cranberry nose leads into a play between strawberry and blackberry on the palate, balanced by herbs, spices and great acidity.
